$3.00 - Better Home & Gardens Heritage Cook Book
1977 HC Box (7117-656 BO) vintage cookbooks
(Book Resque)

The exciting story of food in American life features 705 recipes from our rich history including colonial, ethnic, and modern favorites.  The food history of America dates back to the days when cooking was done on an open hearth.  Many of the recipes had a hearty, satisfying quality that survived the test of time.  The early cooks drew the best form America’s great bounty and gave us a rich food heritage including – Steamed Clams, Cod Cakes, hot cider with a stick of cinnamon as a stirrer, New England Boiled Dinners, roast turkey with Corn Bread Dressing, and Yankee Red-Flannel Hash.

Copyright 1975 this 1st edition 6th print dates 1977.  Its hard cover measures 12 x 9 x 1 ¼ (approx.) and contains 400 pages.  On a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being ‘like new’ I rate the box cover a 6.  The front and edges show shelf wear but the back has a couple of scratch tears down 1 layer of its back (see photo).  The book itself I rate a 9!  It has just slight wear inside and out and the cover is thick and the pictures are simply beautiful, front and back.  Plus, this book is full of food history.  (This is a heavy book)

(Please Read – I’m elderly and can’t smell very well so I can’t tell if the previous owner was a smoker.  All of my items come from estate, tag or yard sales so I don’t know if the previous owner was a smoker nor if they had an animal.  Order more than one item and save on postage.)
