$4.01 - Tales of Two Countries
1891 HC (3117-170 BO) antique books
(Book Resque)

Alexander Lange Kielland (18 February 1849 – 6 April 1906) was one of the most famous Norwegian authors of the 19th century.  Born in Stavanger, Norway, he grew up in a rich merchant family.  Even though he was born rich he had a sincere affection for the less fortunate.  And he treated his workers well when he was a factory owner.  He remained a spokesman for the weak and a critic of society throughout his time as a writer.

This hardcover dates 1891.  It measures 7 x 4 3/4 x 1 (approx.) and contains 204 pages.  On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being 'like new' I rate this copy a 5+.  The cover does show age and there are what look like pen marks on the front (can be seen from picture).  The inside cover has a name and part of a date written on it as well as what looks like there may have been something stored causing darkening (see picture).  The actual pages, other than yellowing are actually in good condition.  For a book of over 100 years, this book is in good condition.

(PLEASE READ: I’m elderly and can’t smell very well so I can’t tell if the previous owner was a smoker.  All books come from estate, tag or yard sales so I don't know if the previous owner was a smoker nor if they had an animal.  Selling as is.  Buy more than one item and save on postage.)
